Tape Loop, continues my explorations into reinventing uses for what some would call obsolete technology, digitaly controlling analog mechanical processes while creating mechanized installations. With Tape Loop i take this process further, deconstructing and making use of the VCR's working method expanding it to resemble the inspirational motif of an old whole wall magnetic tape reader/recorder.
Tape loop states more than the technology that it makes use of, or it makes it's statement through the technology used, it's final form can be seen a portrait of a product lifetime timeline, a consumeirism closed circle, a statement on how technologies are introduced cyclically in our lifes, how new becomes old while at the same time giving an ironic bite in the new media art practice and culture.
