IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – My Laptop got stolen!!

Hello,

Unfortunately my computer got stolen and lost a couple weeks of emails!
If you got in touch between the 15th  and 26th of july please re-send your email

From now on, and for all of you who have been in contact with me, next time you get an email from the website MAKE SURE IT IS ME!

Right now i’m working on any friend’s computer i can get a hold on, so my communication can be a bit sketchy until i buy a new one. This came to affect the production of the .WAV Player, but hopefully not too much, i’m still waiting for some parts to arrive, soon after will start shipping!

Have some good holidays meanwhile!

ADDAC101 .WAV Player and ADDAC007 Ethernet

Finally the ADDAC101 .WAV Player is ready, been a while since i started this module and i’m very happy with it!

This is a Standalone module, there’s no Programming or ADDAC001 Brain Unit required, just plug n’play!

addac101
Arduino based module with ATMEGA328 IC and Wave Shield

16HP Eurorack format
compatible with +-12v and +-15v power supplies

SD card input

Controls:
Main Volume
Loop Size
File Position
Sample Rate
VCA
Envelope Follower
File Access (Manual / Gate file skip, play next, play previous, play random)
Reset Button

_

Also got the ADDAC007 Ethernet working properly, made some additions to the panel layout for easier use, here’s a new video

The .WAV Player Final Version

The .WAV Player is finally in the last production stage!
First plate arrived with no mistakes, just waiting for the pcbs to have the first unit ready, test it and get the production rolling.

I changed the design a bit (from a previous post) to make it smaller and, most important, to make it totally self-operating, unlike the ADDAC001 no coding skills needed to make it run, totally standalone: plug, load it with a SD card and play!

Welcoming Negative Voltages, Tuned Gates and Ethernet (OSC)

These new releases have been in the making for some time now, finally they’re assembled and tested!

ADDAC201 – Voltage Inverter
ADDAC005W – “Well-Tuned” Gate Outputs
ADDAC007 – Ethernet

This last one is the one which is getting me more excited because it’s brings Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol into the ADDAC world, allowing control through wireless networks (through a wireless router) like a computer, iPhone, iPod Touch and alike as well as other devices like Lemur, Monome and so on…

More Updates

The website has been stopped but a lot has been happening in the background, i’ve been finishing some new modules (ethernet, voltage inverter, well-tuned module and a new VC .WAV player that is getting me very excited). As soon as the new panels arrive i’ll post the pictures for these modules. Meanwhile temporary drawings of, soon to be, available modules below.

I have also been improving the construction of the modules, mainly improving everything for sandwich style and adding IDC Ribbon cables everywhere. I would hope this whole process could be faster but unfortunately it’s a very slow but rewarding process, i can only wish i could do it faster.

*btw. it was reported to me that the Forum wasn’t allowing registrations, this was corrected and is fully functional now!

New prototypes being tested

Been dealing with 3 new prototype modules:

1.

A 22Khz 16bit .WAV player*
through LadyAda Waveshield
with controls for :
Sample Rate reduction
Seek in file
Skip file
Loop
Play / Pause
With added VCA Ouput

*Files load from a SD card

2.
Inspired by La Monte Young’s “The Well Tuned Piano” Piece

Prototyped an alternative gate output module quantized to 8 notes of his very particular tunning
1v per octave analog quantization between 4 and 5v
this range will allow it to keep the gate output function for logic signals
Planning a mix output

3.
Wireless Nunchuck also tested and running!
This will turn front panel and DIN5 connector not necessary

+
Gate inputs and outputs front plates arrived
photos soon

Ethernet enabled, controlled by IPhone through OSC!

After fiddling around with several iPhone OSC (Open Sound Control) apps and diferent code, ended up using ArdOSC and modifying one of recotana’s examples to receive data from the MRMR iphone app

Also ready to communicate with the computer through OSC

Browser control turned out to be very disappointing, very slow feeds…

MaxMSP Patch running!

Finished an overall MaxMSP patch to receive all data from the input modules and to send data into the ADDAC001 Outputs
Sweet!

In the picture below there’s a visualization of the reading from:
1 ADDAC002 – CV/ MANUAL INPUTS
2 ADDAC003 – MANUAL INPUTS
1 ADDAC004 – GATE INPUTS
1 ADDAC006 – NUNCHUCK INPUT

as well as a basic random function sending data to the 8 ADDAC001 output channels

Welcome Nunchuck Remote!

Successfully got the Nunchuck Remote working with the system!!
I couldn’t find panel mount nunchuck male connectors, so i’ll make them with DIN5 (typical midi sockets)

The nunchuck remote, with DIN5 male connector, will be provided with the module

Already ordered the front plates for this module, will arrive along with the ADDAC004 and ADDAC005 front plates, updates soon!
